It spearheads a popular movement for respecting all life on earth.

Started in Bombay in 1993, PFA is today the largest animal welfare agency in India It works to provide food shelter and medical relief to the sick / injured / homeless animals. PFA Dehra Doon is a registered Charitable Trust under Indian Trust Act,1860. PFA has been the voice of animals in Dehra Doon since 1998.Till July 2005 PFA was running a Shelter from the premises of a Govt. Veterinary Hospital.The PFA Shelter in Dehra Doon became a reality largely due to the financial as well as moral support provided by Ms. Maneka Gandhi. The focus is on rescue, relief and sterilization of stray canines.

PFA runs a Shelter cum Veterinary Hospital in Gram Panchayat Nanurkheda, 5 kms from the centre of the town, on a campus of approx 1 acre.

The Shelter has the capacity to house more than 100 small animals at a time.The construction of additional sheds for small as well as large animals and quarters for the resident staff is presently underway.The Main Unit of the Shelter House has an O.T. , O.P.D., and Dispensary

Volunteers

 

PFA is entirely dependent on a small group of dedicated volunteers for its relief and rescue work. They spend their quality time on and off the campus, driven by their love. In addition to their time the members also sponsor the day-to-day expenses whether it is the feed, medicines or fuel
