In September last year, a team of animal rights activists working for Maneka Gandhi’s People for Animals (PFA) group were arrested as ‘dacoits’ by the police and jailed for two weeks. They were allegedly also beaten up during their incarceration.

The nine activists, led by 19-year-old Chandrakant Salunkhe, were reportedly trying to rescue bullocks that a local butcher was illegally transporting for slaughter, in September 2012.

Buying Dogs

E-mail Print PDF
For years I have been seeing the Dog for Sale advertisements in the papers. I have checked on them from time to time. Most of the animals offered are inbred, the owner wants the money only in black – even if it goes upto Rs 50,000 and in most cases, there is no certification or provenance.
